Xero: Quotes are now mobile

Let’s get right to the point. Quotes, they are finally coming to Xero mobile! Many of you have been asking for the ability to view, create and send quotes to your customers and clients from your mobile devices. Well, it’s been a long time coming but Xero are now in a position to give you just that.

Xero are committed to bringing quotes to Xero mobile, and polishing up the sales workflow for our users who are out and about and doing business on-the-go.

So to keep things simple and still provide a bit of insight, Xero are well underway, and this is how it’s going down.

You can now view quotes on Xero for Android

Just before the holidays, Xero released the first iteration of quotes on Xero for Android. They started by simply introducing the ability to view your existing quotes. You’ll notice they have also designed the UI to be similar to invoices, to make it even easier to get into using quotes. If you have existing quotes in Xero, these will now be viewable.

Xero have updated where invoices live; they will be joined by quotes and under one roof

Introducing quotes meant Xero needed to figure out where in the app they would live. Rather than splitting them out into another individual area, they made the decision to combine both quotes and invoices under the one roof known as ‘Sales’. The idea being that quotes and invoices are really apart of the the same process – the sales process. You start the process with a quote, followed by the invoice and finally customer payments. Keeping this in one area helps provide context and makes managing the sales process easier.

Creating and editing will be shipping soon for Android

We know you have all been waiting a long time for quotes on mobile, so instead of waiting to do a big bang release, Xero wanted to get features out to you as quickly as possible. With viewing quotes now out on Xero for Android, the Android team have quickly moved on to development of creating and editing quotes. This update will be out for users very soon.

Quotes on Xero for iOS are coming

Xero haven’t forgotten about those of you using the iOS app. There has been a lot of other work going on in iOS and they needed to get that sorted first, but They’re now in a position to make headway on delivering quotes.

Xero will be following the same process as they have been doing with Android. This means they’ll get view quotes out first, followed by edit and create.

There are a couple of reasons for doing this. One being that it allows us to start getting quotes out to you faster, and the second is that this process allows for us to remain flexible and enables us to respond faster if bugs or issues with the experience crop up.

Xero are looking forward to finally getting this into your hands. If you have questions about any of the above, feel free to drop us a line.

If you don’t have Xero mobile yet — you can download Xero for Android from the Play Store and Xero for iOS from the App Store. Make sure to leave a review once you’ve had some time to play around with the app.
